This is one of my favorite places in Taos. I have painted this scene several times now- it is challenging and also quite enjoyable to paint.

The much maligned buffalo is a regal creature. It is a rare occurrence when the offspring is the white buffalo calf and it is a symbol of hope amongst the Native Americans.

I love the Abiquiu area and the colors in the sun...I saw these horses standing near the road waiting to be painted- so lovely in the light.

From the petroglyphs we hold dear and the jackalopes I saw frolicking...

This painting came together from my love of old pots, my Kachina (far right) and a Navajo rug...as an afterthought, I added the onion and red chiles, which were so fun to paint!

Nocturnes are my current calling and a source of wonderful inspiration for me. There are certain night scenes I find
intriguing and that I will be exploring in the near future.

Inspired by a photograph from 1899 of the Gan Dancers, often called "Devil Dancers" because they dance to drive away the
evil spirits, I took considerable artistic license here to create this nocturne of "Mountain Spirit Dancers".
